Making something yummy with whatever is left in the fridge

So it's late in the week and we ran out of most ingredients so it looked like there was nothing for lunch. But if you search around it's possible you can make something yummy. I found some chicken stock, and onion, half a carrot, a yellow zucchini, some ginger, and celery and decided the best move was to make soup. From there I found some soy sauce, bean threads, and sesame oil. First I cut the ginger and onion up into small pieces. Heated the sesame oil and sauteed the two in it. Then I chopped up the celery and carrot. Once the onion and ginger were browning a bit I added the chicken stock and the carrots and onion. While waiting for it to come to a boil I sliced the zucchini into circles. I then used soy sauce till i liked the taste of the broth. Once it was boiling I added the zucchini and a bundle of bean threads. Once the bean threads were almost soft enough I took it off the flame and let the broth finish it up. Then I served it. After eating it I think I should have put some fish sauce in it. However, as it was grandma and grandpa were happy with it and I had a good lunch. There are a lot of creative things you can do with random leftover items in the fridge. It's fun and it helps so things don't go to waste.
